Weekly update from Mr Brady (22/1/21)
Here is Mr Brady's news update for the week (22.1.21)...
Dear Parents/Carers
Another week has gone and it is fair to say that everyone is in the swing of lockdown now.
Thanks for the feedback on the 'nearly no screen day'. We have seen some amazing creations and projects and, whilst it was never going to be a perfect day, it has given people a rest from a screen and allowed many people to indulge in some creative inspiration! Lessons went back to normal today and I am meeting our Head Girl and Boy on Monday to look at the coming weeks.
We are keeping our eyes and ears open for any possible suggestion of a return to school. Being honest, I think we are in this for a fair few weeks to come (if the national rates are any indicator) and with this in mind, we will continue to reach out to those who need support. In the meantime, every student should continue to put their maximum effort in to the lessons. As I said, Y11 and 13 students MUST keep pushing on as if they were still sitting exams in the summer because we need to get as much evidence to inform our judgements on grades.
We had Y9 parents/carers evening last night which, apart from the section where the servers went down across the company's network, was a real success. One feature of the normal parents/carers evening that I miss is the chance to see people face to face and catch up about progress or wellbeing. We are working on a way of doing this, but if any Y9 parent/carer needs to get in touch then please just drop me a line and we will get back to you.
Mr Bishop has sorted the Eden Red Scheme for our FSM vouchers (we purchased our own vouchers to start with) and he will contact parents/cares to let them know the finer details.
It's a bit of a short catch up this week. This week is the Wednesday of any half term!
We hope you continue to stay safe and hope to see you soon.
Take care
Steve Brady
