GCSE History – AQA Understanding the Modern World

The History department is filled with passionate subject specialists who thoroughly enjoy sharing their love of the past. The History that we teach is chosen to promote curiosity, develop deep thinking and open up students' minds to the world around us.  We teach through the use of enquiry questions so that students are aided in reaching their own judgements about the past, and perhaps about the modern day and their place in it too.

As a department, we love to take students out of the classroom to help them experience the past too. This could be through demonstrations in the hall or field - we have previously hosted our own Treaty of Versailles conference in the hall. We make the most of our local area by taking students to a castle and slightly further afield to the Black Country Museum. GCSE students get to visit Berlin to get as close as possible to the history that we teach at GCSE.
