Online Learning Statement from Mr Brady -
At Dene Magna School, our online offer means that ALL students will still be taught in live lessons by their teachers. We do this using Google Meet and Google Classroom, both of which are safe to use because they link to the student and staff accounts. Staff have all been trained on the use of these platforms and we continue to work on our own CPD so that we can ensure that these lessons are the best they can be.
Any student who does not have access to the technology needed to work online is allocated a Chromebook from the school and, where needed, the school will issue wireless 'dongles' to help with connectivity.
Students follow their normal curriculum and lessons.
The school is open to vulnerable children and those of critical workers and we ensure that there is in-class support for these students. Every child on the SEND register is allocated a key worker and they check in to ensure students are accessing their learning. Students with EHCPs will continue to work with their allocated TA (where applicable). TAs are all working online and are available to support students in lessons. Students in receipt of the Pupil Premium remain a primary focus in all that we do (including feedback and support).
To support wellbeing and safeguarding, we start every day with check-in for tutors. Any issues can then be flagged up to the pastoral team and we also operate an immediate contact policy regarding non-attendance to online lessons.
Important information:
The arrangement of transport will be the same as they were in the autumn term for face coverings.
Waiting at the bus stop and cleaning of vehicles.
Below is a reminder of the detail of these points that we sent to you in August last year:
1. Face coverings: Secondary school students must wear face coverings on all school transport and public transport, this includes any students that are brought to school by taxi/minibus.
2. Seating bubbles: Students that travel on GCC contracted routes (those which only take GCC pass holding students) will need to sit in their ‘year group bubbles’ on the bus as they did in the autumn term. Obviously the driver is not going to know each child and what year group they are in so we need the students to sit in their correct bubbles and not try to sit by their friend in a different year. On busy routes where every seat needs to be used,, there will be students from different year groups sat by each other as this is unavoidable where two bubbles are adjacent.
3. Waiting at the bus stop: Students need to social distance from each other whilst waiting at bus stops, only students from the same household or year group should stand together. Like many of the above measures, we are dependent on students taking responsibility for this themselves and being sensible.
4. Cleaning of vehicles: We can assure you that our operators have increased their cleaning schedules on the vehicles and they will be thoroughly cleaned each day and cleaned between different bubbles using the vehicle.
