New York Trip
We challenge our students to go out into the world and '... learn from people of different cultures and from different countries'. This was the driving force for our trip to New York over the half term break. Thirty-five Year 12 and 13 students and staff headed across the Atlantic to explore what New York had to offer. We wanted all to grow in confidence, explore the culture and history of New York and to represent all the best of Dene Magna Sixth Form and the Forest of Dean. We are so proud of our students who achieved all of this, and more. During a whirlwind trip we saw the sites: from shops, churches, synagogues, 9/11 memorial, 'Top of the Rock', Times Square, Central Park, the Statue of Liberty (from a distance), MoMA, downtown, midtown, uptown, restaurants, airports and long flights. We walked, ice skated, went up (in elevators) and down (on the subway) we slept (just a little) and powered on through, so we didn't waste a minute. Everyone was great company, and we were universally complimented by everyone we met. It was a great privilege to share each moment together. Dene Magna Sixth Form, so, so proud of you!
