GCSE Geography Residential
As part of the GCSE Geography course, a three-day residential field studies visit to Nettlecombe Court has been arranged from Friday 12 October to Sunday 14 October 2018. Full details about this trip are downloadable below.
Wilderness Trip
As part of the Geography curriculum, the students are required to perform specific skills to enable their studies. These skills are necessary for their understanding of certain aspects of the subject, as well as being useful life skills for the future, even if they later do not choose Geography as one of their GCSE options.
Therefore arrangements have been made for a visit to the Wilderness Centre on:
Monday 12 March for 7D1 and 7F1
Monday 19 March for 7D2 and 7W1
Friday 23 March for 7J1 and 7W2.
Students are required to bring a packed lunch on the day that they are going and to arrive in non-school uniform (appropriate for the weather that day). It is advisable that a change of clothes is also brought in that day in case the weather changes for the worse.

GCSE Geography Residential
Dale Fort Field Studies Centre
Friday 6 - Sunday 8 October 2017
On Friday 6 October the Geography department and 61 GCSE geographers travelled to Dale Fort Field Studies Centre, in Pembrokeshire, for a weekend full of discovery, geographical skills and adventure. The Dale Fort
Field Centre is recognised for providing good fieldwork experiences to GCSE and A-level students for both Geography and Biology. The students were able to put classroom learning into practice out in the field, which enabled them to study coastal landscapes and river landscapes. Both of these topics are pivotal for their success at GCSE. Students carried out various fieldwork at Newgale shingle beach and the River Syfynwy. Students enjoyed the active learning and said that as a result of the fieldwork they had more of an understanding of the physical landscapes of the UK by seeing them in real life, rather than from a photograph. Additionally, one student vowed that the tea making facilities at the centre were fantastic!
The students behaved brilliantly over the course of the weekend and gained valuable knowledge and experiences that will help them to achieve great success over the Geography GCSE course.
