Japanese Exchange
Dene Magna has had a long standing relationship with two partner schools in Okinawa (Japan), Chatan Junior High School and Kuwae Junior High School. July 2017 marked our 4th cultural exchange with students and staff from Dene Magna spending 10 days in Okinawa.
As part of the cultural exchange, Dene Magna welcome Students and Staff from Okinawa in November. During this visit, our Japanese friends experience all the Forest of Dean and Gloucestershire has to offer as well as trips out with host families and a trip to London. The students and staff from Okinawa also experience school life and spend time in lessons.
Dene Magna students apply to be part of the Okinawa team and selected students have the task of raising around £1600 each to fund the exchange. Past fundraising initiatives have included fetes, bag packing, charity quiz night, auction event, car washing, providing refreshments at the local flu clinics, cake sales, the Dene Magna Christmas Fayre and even a sponsored 24 hour bike ride!
The FIFTH exchange is now well on the way and our students need your support! Please keep your eyes open for different fundraising activities happening in your area.
